SoftBank Group invests $1 billion in Uber

Uber has just received another $1 billion investment from SoftBank Group to enhance its technology as well as its corporate governance, according to TechCrunch.

Japanese-based SoftBank and Dragoneer Investment Group are also planning to purchase $9 billion of Uber shares from employees and shareholders, so they will own at least 14% of the company.

This investment seems to be bizarre as SoftBank has been investing in other competitors like Ola in India.

Quoting from TechCrunch, "But SoftBank is said to take a different approach from other venture capitalists and is willing to invest in multiple players in the same category."
